What is Invisible Computing?

Here at Mojo, we love our screens big and small, in our hands and on our desks. But we hate that they take us away from our lives by disrupting our day. They can deliver crucial information about the people, events, and environments we encounter, yet ironically, they distract us from the world around us while delivering that data. You can’t look up and look down at the same time.

With its ability to overlay essential data and graphics onto our world, augmented reality (AR) feels like the future. Yet to date, no one has solved the issue of unobtrusive hardware. We are being told we must wear bulky, heavy, and power-hungry AR goggles that are so visible and socially awkward, they make us look almost alien. Perhaps the biggest problem with devices and AR goggles is that they disrupt the most important interactions in our day—the ones we have face-to-face with other people. Wearing glasses into a meeting or constantly looking down towards your device or wearable can make you seem uncomfortable, disinterested, or—even worse—untrustworthy.

So we asked ourselves: what if we could provide data directly to someone’s visual field and make all those devices and headsets disappear? We could help people stay engaged in the moment, without ever having to look away from the road or people in front of them. They could enter any conversation or situation informed and ready, without the stigma of glasses or a headset that doesn’t let them look like themselves. This is how the idea behind Invisible Computing platform was created.

Invisible Computing is the power to shift our focus from technology back to the world around us. Invisible Computing can also be contextual, sensing what is around us by helping us respond dynamically and freely take information and insight with us wherever we go. We can stay connected with our world, surroundings, and communications, all without the distraction of a device. Invisible Computing has the power to make our interactions with people and places more intuitive and attuned by making technology fade away. Since Mojo Vision’s founding in late 2015, our multi-disciplinary team of world-class scientists, engineers, designers, medical experts, and product managers has been pioneering new technologies to support the Invisible Computing platform. We’re excited at the possibility of doing what no other product has done to date: turn our constant interactions with devices into deeper, better connections with each other.

We have some groundbreaking ideas experiences to share with you in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned.
